With life often going at 100mph, it can be easy to become overwhelmed with stress whether at work, home or with loved ones, so here we’ve shared a round up of some interesting things we’ve come across in the last few weeks that remind us just how important it is to priortise your mental health as much as your physical…

How to stop a panic attack before it starts, written by Priory psychotherapist Susie Garcia. 

Garcia expresses the importance and power in acknowledging the symptoms of panic attacks so you are in the strongest position to safely manage them. 

Some key tips include breathing techniques, counting five things that you can sense and repeating a mantra (something personal to you, almost a reminder of goals you are working towards works well).

The Pomodoro Technique, created by student Francesco Cirillo in the 1980’s is an effective time management method that realigns focus and prevents you  feeling overwhelmed. 

Simplicity is key, try setting realistic and manageable goals that don’t seem as daunting. This can be done by breaking down complex tasks or even grouping together smaller ones. 

Also, think about setting limits on apps on your phone or setting timers to complete tasks.

Music is a great medium for processing emotions, whether you blast it in the car at full volume, listen to it peacefully to fall asleep or scream it with your friends, it can be therapeutic. 

Adults tend to have the most emotional connection to songs that remind them of their childhood, so we would recommend starting a playlist on Spotify called NOSTALGIA and include all those songs that make you feel young and carefree!
