Recently we hosted our Tin Women Collective event, bringing together successful, like-minded female communications professionals for an evening of networking. As a predominantly female-led agency with a roster of incredible senior female clients, we united to share experiences and support one another.
Our guest speakers, TV personality, comedian, and business mentor Cally Beaton, along with podcaster and the first black anchor for Channel 5 News Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, shared their inspiring journeys. They discussed topics ranging from personal achievements and silencing your inner critic to leading authentically and building confidence.
Our first speaker, Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, has worked with the UK’s biggest television channels, including Sky, BBC, ITV, and Channel 5. Currently the face of 5 News Tonight, Claudia-Liza is the first black lead anchor to present the programme. She highlighted the challenges she overcame to secure her dream job and emphasised the importance of believing in yourself—owning your mistakes and learning from them.
Our second speaker was Cally Beaton, a TV personality, comedian, writer, and business mentor. Cally has held board-level positions at some of the world’s largest media companies, including ITV and Viacom. She shared stories and experiences from her decades-long career, speaking about the importance of standing out for the right reasons and overcoming career challenges. Cally also reflected on the significance of embracing differences and being curious about what makes us uncomfortable to affect real change.
