THE CHALLENGE
More young people are being scammed online than ever before. For Safer Internet Day, Vodafone wanted to expose the true cost to Britain’s kids and work to make the internet safe by design.

THE IDEA
We delved deep into the issue, speaking to parents, kids and teachers to discover that nearly one million British children had been scammed online in the last year.

While the financial loss is tough to bear, the emotional burden is often higher, with 69% of parents saying their kids became anxious and couldn’t stop worrying after falling for an online scam.

Offering parents and kids the support and guidance they really need, we opened Vodafone’s ‘Phish ‘N’ Tips’ Shop – a scam safe hub offering free expert advice along with some delicious fish and chips.

The team from NSPCC and psychotherapist and online harm expert, Catherine Knibbs, were on hand to offer tips and help for families to build healthy digital habits and stay safe online.

THE RESULTS
– 487 pieces of covereage
– 98% of coverage included key research data
– 9 national news inclusions
– 64 partner interviews with NSPCC and Catherine Knibbs
– 270 portions of fish and chips served at the Phish ‘N’ Tips Shop
